What huv ye done Nichola? - Oil on Canvas - 50x40cm

Well, what can I say. I’ve been trying to paint landscapes and birch trees and animals. Nichola here started out as an owl, 3 different owls in fact, in the end after a 10 hour stint Nichola appeared. I’ve no idea what it is that this painting has helped me process, I think it’s probably something to do with the deep shame I feel for Scotland and the way this country continues to shoot itself in foot. Och well eh, that’s as far as I’ve got with the psycho analysis on this one. This is undoubtedly a niche product. I’m trying really hard to be a good and authentic artist, searching for that flow state that resides deep in my subconscious, it’s strange where that leads I’ll admit. I have spend some time amongst the trees in the deep highlands but yet rotting caravans and failing hydro electric infrastructure feels more compelling.
