š Blouse Rock Poodle - creepy pet - oil and acrylic on canvas - THIS HAS BEEN GIFTED TO ROSS AINSLIE
I got off the phone with my life long friend. I had do something the news was so desperate, the first thing I did was this, I canāt explain it, it doesnāt make sense and i know that it is very strange. I was listening to Steve Lukather interviews, one of my friends is really into āblouse rockā ā¦ when you feel completely useless you just have to batter on with something ā¦ this thing here ā¦ this is what I battered on with.
Some of my close friends have been going through a really hard and dark time and in an attempt to process all that is happening I have taken to creating these characters. I canāt explain why, but when your emotions are bubbling over it is usual that the first impulse that occurs to you is the one you will follow.
This series of creepy pets is a reaction to a terrible and horrific accident that has happened to a life long friend. Iāve been unfortunate to have been touched by death a lot in my 40 years. In some cases people close to me have been caught in a limbo, locked in state, somewhere between life and death, it is very hard to deal with. The inability to do anything to help is paralysing and desperate. Although the people are still with you on this mortal plane they are yet so far away, unreachable. Itās incredibly heavy ā¦ itās hard to convey ā¦
I know these paintings are weird and stupid but they have been my way of trying to process all these feelings.
Thanks for listening ā¦ hug and kiss your loved ones ā¦ grab their arms like a squid ā¦ make fun of the way they talk ā¦ dance until youāre red in the face and canāt breathe from laughing.
