Ceapabhal from Horgabost. I’ve painted this view a few times now… That wee hill is so mystical. Turns out my great cousin Mary Ann is from Northton, some quizzing required… and I know it’s not wise to stand in the sea in a storm but it only went over my welly three times and I was soaked anyway. Once you’re wet you’re wet.
Harris at dusk is so Gàidhlig; you can hear the skurl of a small pipe on the wind, the monotonous, trance, and waulking of bereaved Cailleachs in the smashing of the waves. Time is long here… the weather is abusive… wetness in everything… the wind cuts right through your middle … there’s ghosts everywhere… humans have been here ten thousand years, yet lots of them have never learnt the courtesy of giving you a wave at a passing place. Scowl at the bongalie, scowl at him.
Collection very much preferred. Can be crated and couriered at additional expense.
