Duncan Chisholm - Portrait Photography

Duncan's a bit of a legend, pioneer of folk rock with Wolfstone, a prolific composer and fiddle man for many high end Scottish acts. A student of the famous Donald Riddle of South Clunes, Duncan is 100% highland and a genuine stalwart of traditional Scottish Music. We took these portraits when Duncan was down at Celtic Connections in January, we had a bit of a sketch taking photos in the Gallery of Modern Art but by being polite and applying a bit of snecher charm it was all golden. It has to be said that after hanging out with Duncan my Invernesian accent get's amplified quite dramatically.I also designed the cover for his latest solo CD 'Affric' which is part of the 'Strathglass' trilogy. Duncan and myself worked very closely on getting this cover the way Duncan had it envisaged in his mind, he had a very clear idea of what he was after even down to the specific scots pine that is the focal point. Strathglass was heavily cleared in the highland clearances with many folk leaving to cross the atlantic for the distant shores of Nova Scotia. The advent of hydro in the glen also adds further weight to the cover with Glen Cannich being flooded to create Loch Mullardoch in the 50's.For more information on Affric and the seat of the Chisholms check out http://www.glenaffric.org/.I'm dead chuffed to have worked with Duncan so closely on this project, he's a musician that's very close to my heart both geographically and musically, not to mention a man of impecable craic. So here's to him and his family and many more successes in the future.See Duncans new website and get the album @ http://www.duncanchisholm.co.uk/
