CherryGrove - Video
Here's my latest music video for the talented young band CherryGrove. We filmed this in the CCA Glasgow in a nice blank, white exhibition room the light was good and the folk in the band performed really well. Particular mention must go out to Marianne Fraser the singer, she really knocked it out of the park after a few warm up takes. Not only a magnificent singer but also a great performer in front of the lens. It's fair to say some folk struggle with getting filmed and become a little self conscious, clammed up and visually uncomfortable. Music in my mind is mostly about performance and the ability shown by these guys in performing in front of the camera with no audience - other than a grumpy schmO barking orders - shows real professionalism and talent.I used a technique called lens whacking throughout this one. Lens whacking involves taking the lens of the camera body and moving it around with your hand, hap hazardly letting light leak in and creating some pretty radical blur effects. It's not everyones cup of tea right enough, it is unorthodox and does create a particularly dream like, tripped out effect. Personally I love the way it looks and moreover I love doing it because it's fun and after all, what is life without fun? I ask you.Check out their website here http://cherrygrovemusic.com/
