Beecake - The World of Things - Album Artwork - CD
Have you heard of the actor Billy Boyd? He is Weedgie glitterati, he's best known for playing Peregrin 'Pippin' Took in the Lord of the Rings, so it's fair to say he's up there in terms of fame. However this matters not one iota in this context. In this context he is the lead singer of BEECAKE and when I got the call for this one I was none the wiser, having never watched the Lord of the Rings. After a wee bit of googling it's fair to say I was pretty hyped. After meeting BJ and Paul from the band and discussing what they wanted, I was totally made up. Essentially they liked my work enough that they were happy to give me a free reign, we pinned down a few things they liked, then I sharpened my pencils and got on the scribble. Now I'm not going to go into to to much depth on the process here as the vinyl (gatefold) is on it's way and I'll show my workings on that post. This is the CD release and although I am very pleased with the result... Let's faces CD's are just totally lame compared to vinyl both visually and audibly. If I were you I'd go and check out the band. They sound great, the album is lush, with beautiful arrangements including smooth and luxurious strings. Altogether it's a very high quality example of what I would class as indy pop.Go check out their website for more info...http://beecake.com/And make sure and check back very soon for the story on the vinyl where I will drill down into the process and thinking behind the artwork.
