Ross Ainslie - 'Remembering' CD album design
I like the way Ross does things, he goes his own way, has faith in his instincts and can make creative decisions quickly. I doubt that many of Ross's followers had thought that his second album would be and album of songs. Ross is a piper isn't he?What Ross has done here took balls, guts, cajones, a proverbial pair! Here he has turned the perception of himself on it's head. It's understandable as the man has been fighting problems with alcohol for quite some time. Being an integral part of scene which spends 66.6% of it's time in the pub is not easy when you don't want to drink any more. Ross openly speaks of sitting in his flat on his own, whilst a'body else was out at the pub playing tunes. This is where these songs have come from. They are genuinely expressive songs of personal struggle, imagination and reflection. I've known the man for a long time and I am extremely proud of how far he has come musically and artistically but most of all personally. He is proof that any one can take control of their shit, nurture their talents, excel and ultimately get closer to the zenith of fulfilment and happiness. Long may he prosper. So it's worth pointing out that I did not take the photos for this cover. And yes I did wind Ross up about it! They were very ably shot by David Owen Blackley of http://hernameismurderproductions.com/. I tweaked the colours and we based the design around them. David also shot the 'making of' video up at Tpot studios where the album was recorded, a fine studio by all accounts.I love working with Ross. He comes up the office we sit at the computer and we get things done. It is a joy, decisions are made in the blink of an eye, we have heaps of craic and we always end up with something classic. So go buy the album at the website which I also designed. http://rossainslie.comThere's also a wee live video up there that we recorded in the office here, took 4 hours all in. Smashed it so we did... Good microphones, talent and craic makes things go down easy.
