I ARE Photographer
Since 2012 I have amassed 34,502 photos in my catalogue. My camera's have in total 79,516 shutter actuations. I ARE photographer!?!?!Although maybe not the best photographer in the world considering I have deleted 45,014 of the photos I have taken. This is partly the curse of digital and partly the worry of not getting 'the shot'; especially when on commercial shoots and I certainly don't use the 'burst' mode like I used too. Going back to film has definitely helped in this regard. Out of a roll of film I like around 60-70% of them. Usually because I've thought about it before I've pressed the shutter and also because film is expensive, more involved and my film camera has no electronic aids what so ever. Not even a light meter. So during a recent thinning out of my digital photo album I spotted a few shots which weren't rated, lonely and un looked at so I thought I'd sling 'em up here... Maybe you like 'em?The photographers choice is not always the clients. Often my choice in the past differs from my choice now. So here's a few that I've revisited because they caught my eye and I love 'em. Some of these are scans of film prints but most are from the digital cameras and only 3 of them were done for clients.Frankly I still prefer film... It has mojo, you take a lot less photos and the pictures are always reproduced in reality - i.e. you get a print. Honestly as an artistic medium film is king, however the reality of modern professional photography demands choice, flexibility, cost effectiveness and speed. At the end of the day I have 6 rolls of film languishing in a drawer that have needed processed since the winter... So yeah, my ideals are grander than my actions!
