Back in to Photography

I’ve been getting back into photography, due mostly to the high-8 blog and the inspiration of the other photos up there. For ages I was bored of taking photos of my experiences and not experiencing the experience without an lcd screen in the way (does that make sense?). Basically I have preferred  to commit the event and images to my memory, which gives a more lurid inspiration when sketching or painting. Going to a major event like the mtb worlcup and seeing everyone looking at the action through screens and view finders kind of riles me. Now i’m not a particularly good photographer, it is very much hit and miss, experimental almost. However when there is not a more experienced and skilled photographer in tow I like to shoot. I can compensate for my short-comings with photoshop and the results are often a bit of a suprise. Hopefully we will get some good light this winter and more good shots will transpire. Might get a gallery on the go here actually. Any how, be sure to check the high-8 blog. More folk are coming on side to share their adventures and I’ve got some great images from other folk to wave the photoshop wand at.

Mairearad Green

mairearadgreen.com

Here’s the site for Mairearad Green a fine accordionist and piper for wester Ross. This is another wordpress site, it was needed in a hurry and thankfully all graphics were in place already. They were designed by suisse studio and the whole thing hangs together quite nicely, giving Mairearad a clean, contemporary and modern look. I used the theme Vesper from Valen, it’s an excellent theme easily customised and based on exemplary code. So I was basically just the facilitator for this project. Turned out well and on time so: Classic.

Cycling season – END

PEATYThat’s the cycling season pretty much over and what a season. Steve Peat winning the world championships at last, although it’s a shame the course was a little sub par. He thoughly deserves it and it’s been a long time coming. The man is a legend I’ve seen him riding a few times in Fort William and it’s astonishing how easy he makes difficult sections look. The tour de france was classic this year too. With another Brit showing true mastery on the bike. Bradley Wiggins performance was superb and it just goes to show what some determination and hard work can achive. Mixing it up eith the super-humans of the peleton and taking the fight right to their feet was awesome. I can’t wait for next year and hopefully I’ll get to see more races and even participate in some.
