schmo v4

So just in time for the winter internet fixation I have updated the schmo site to version 4. It uses a fancy jQuery carousel to display my wares, big and bold. Hopefully this will make it better for browsing through the images. I have also put up an Art page where folk can buy prints and orginal drawings or paintings. So it’ll be interesting to see what the reaction to thyis will be over the dark months of the boredom inducing winter. Over and out…

High-8

hi--spayThis is the logo for High-8. A weblog and forum dedicated to outdoor adventure. The logo is designed primarily as a stencil to be sprayed on rucksacks, cases and other outdoor gubbins. The idea, is to have the logo sprayed on various surfaces and photographed to  create rotating headers for the sites. Think it’ll look wicked on cordura, rock and wood. It’ll be classic craic experimenting with it and playing with spray paint always produces interesting effects, it’ll be cool doing some real world image making, for sure. Here’s some blurb explaining the project from  redlightray.

Treacherous Orchestra EP’09

treacherousSo here’s the design for the Treacherous Orchestras first release on (their own) TAKIT records. It was based round Ali Huttons (piper) idea of a space invaders – arcade theme. The instruments in the band have been turned in to invaders which relentlessly attack what’s in front of them, this is extended on to the disc which attacks the cd players spindle. The Player 1 sprite is a somewhat phallic  symbol representing the testosterone fueled nature of the ensemble. The whole idea is then wrapped up in a rather fetching leather clad arcade machine, with pine wood facia. The arcade machine extends on the back with coin slots, sprite (player) list and track names on the money box. (I’ll put a photo up when I get a hard copy) The print was done by SonyDADC so the quality should be top notch, it usually is with the exacting Austrians.

So all in all a nice wee concept, which gives a nice visual effect and paints the band in a light  which should make them stand out from the crowd as much as their show does. They are playing at Cambridge folk festival and Belladrum – Tartan Heart. So if you’re about go and catch them the music is classic eye ball out acousto -thrash and the characters in the band put on a rad show.

Armstrong Landforce logo

_armstrong LOGOHere’s one version of the logo for Armstrong Landforce a landscape gardening and dry stane dyking company in the borders. This is one of the simpler (if you can believe it) versions, with the 1980’s colour scheme and stone effect lettering. There are myriad of different versions with varying degrees of detail. We shall see what Jimbo Blix the II (ceo) decides will be best. The logo will be used in the first instance to emblazon his go everywhere ultra rugged land rover, so it’ll be cool to see how it looks in situ sprayed with crud. Print and web-site to follow…
